Overview

UMS under-pressure drilling enables connections to be made to live utility and industrial pipework without any disruption to users: there is no interruption to the flow of gas or liquid inside the pipe.

The system works well on almost all mainstream pipe materials - including polyethylene, PVC, ductile iron, cast iron and steel – and can accommodate pipelines working at up to 15 bar (220psi). Branch sizes can range from as small as 15mm (0.5") right up to 450mm (18").

UMS' under-pressure drilling rigs are delivered to site on a specialist flat bed vehicle equipped with a dedicated crane: there's no need for any additional lifting equipment. As with UMS' suction excavators and directional drilling equipment, its under-pressure drills are modern and well-maintained in the company's dedicated workshops. All operators are fully trained and qualified with extensive under-pressure drilling experience.

Non-stop commercial service

UMS offers a comprehensive range of service options from drill only through to full fit, test and drill. Rates are competitive with discounts available for repeat orders or multiple connections on the same project. Through the Turriff Group's network of regional offices, UMS is able to offer a broad geographic coverage extending throughout Scotland and much of England.

Its experience in under-pressure drilling means UMS can offer advice and guidance at the planning stage of a project and on emergency services. UMS is happy to provide fixed price quotes.
